1. If you want either Washington or Arizona, let me know. I’ll approve. I think @DarthJarJar is the MWC Commissioner, so he needs to approve this for SJSU
2. Approving. Welcome back to the Pac 12 @HAFFnHAFF! Make sure to also apply onto the interface to take care of your gameplan, DC, and recruiting. I’ll also send you an invite into the Pac 12 discord server that we have. @Kirby, give Haff the Oregon logo pls
3. Approved. @Kirby, Fusion will need the logo for USC. Please go ahead and create an account on the interface and request USC. There you will be able to set your depth chart, gameplanning, and your recruiting! (If you previously had an account on interface you will just have to login again and request them). Welcome to the Pac 12!
4. Hey @Fusion82, Welcome! I just sent you a quick message via discord. Once you’ve responded, I’ll go ahead and approve your application for USC.
5. Welcome back! Will confirm, JMU will be making their debut by next season.
6. Due to the wording in this dev diary, I have moved the deadline for redshirts to this Wednesday at 8am PST. Please finish your redshirts by then.
7. Hey all, with the season starting, I’ve been getting a couple questions as to when certain items and actions are due by. To keep things consistent, here is the current timetable when actions are due: Gameplans and Depth Charts: All actions must be saved by the Wednesday preceding simulated games (Wednesday 11:59pm EST) Redshirting: (2022 Only): All redshirt decisions must be complete on the same Wednesday as the Gameplans and Depth Chart Due Date for Week 1. Recruiting: Have all of your points saved by the end of Saturday, after all weekly game results are posted. (Saturday 11:59pm EST) Special Note: The first recruiting sync will take place after Week 1’s games on July 16th Interface Stats: Once stats feature is up on the interface, stats will be revealed for completed games after the week-sync is done after Saturday’s game results are posted. Interface Stats Page is estimated to be up sometime between week 4 and week 6 of the CFB Season
8. Please refer to your conference commissioner regarding the realignment. edit: redacting second statement due to personal bias
9. Hey all, We're currently observing the current state of realignment in the college football landscape. We will notify you on when the realignment will occur within the simulation when it's appropriate. For the current 2022 season, we will be following last season's realignment. We will provide more information on the 2023 season and the future once we're confident in the future landscape of college football.
10. I did a search by thread on all users who have submitted. We mainly looked at consistency over the season, while also keeping in mind the quality of the content. While some were not able to make posts throughout the season, we still wanted to recognize the effort put in for the articles that they did provide. While it isn't going to be the overall number, it should still give them a small benefit. Overall, we have decided to distribute additional points to the following users: Tsweezy: +5 points Poopy: +5 points SageBow: +2 points Sarge: +2 points Pumph: +2 points Points have been updated for the above users on the interface. Thread is now locked.
11. Hey everyone, Here's the log for today's update: - Enabled redshirting on the interface - Fixed mysterious bug where landing page would crash on booting up. Redshirting During week 0, teams will now able to redshirt up to 15 players on their roster for the current season. There have been changes made to the Roster page to allow this functionality. The column "Redshirt Status" has now replaced the "School" column to remove redundancy from the roster page. There are three statuses for the column: - A red checkmark signifies that the player is currently redshirting for the 2022 season. They cannot play in any game and cannot be on a depth chart. - A green plus sign signifies that a user is able to be redshirted. - A label known as "Active Player" will instead display for any player that has previously been redshirted. When clicking the plus icon, a modal will appear with a warning. If the user clicks yes, the player is given a redshirt. The redshirt for this player cannot be lifted at any point during the season. If a player given a redshirt is existing on the team's depth chart, the user must go to the depth chart page and change their depth chart immediately. When navigating to the depth chart, you will find a new error message if you have a redshirting player on your depth chart. The message will give you the name of the player, which position on the depth chart they are residing. Once the player has been removed from their depth chart position, you will be able to save your depth chart. It should also be noted that players that have been redshirted will not appear in any of the player dropdowns on the depth chart page. They are still on your team, they are just not selectable for the depth chart. On not updating your depth chart As with the warning above, the admin team will know if you have any redshirting players on your depth chart. There's plenty of time ahead before the start of the season; so when assigning redshirts, please update your depth chart afterwards. We will reach out cordially to any team if we find any discrepancies on a team's DC. ~Toucan
12. Hey everyone, Here is a quick overview of the new features on the interface: - Regular season matchups are now stored on the interface - The API will now calculate the standings at the end of each week once games have simmed - Team and Player Stats are now being stored on the interface - Revamped the Game information now displayed on the landing page - Fixed an issue where users could not see full team needs on Recruiting Overview page - Added some margins at the bottom of the RecruitOverview page for users with smaller resolutions and screen views Landing Page Update: Games If you go to the interface now, you will find three new cards by your team's logo on the interface. These cards will carry data for the following games: - Your previous game and results - Current Match Up - Next week's match up For those with a bye-week such as myself, the game information will be displayed as such. However, as we get more along into the season, your games will look like this: Each card will display your opposing team's logo; whether your matchup is at home or away; who you're coaching against, and what kind of game you will be playing (Conference vs Non-Conference vs Divisional). The previous game match up will be the only card to properly display results of the game played, and will either be green or red to signify if your team won or lost. We cannot get games results to pop up in specific timeslots at this time; but I'm hoping we can have a result like that in the near future. Nothing is currently done for rivalry matchups, conference championships, bowl games, or playoff games but perhaps we can see a change in the future for this. Which leads into the next section... Interface and Statistics @Rocketcan and I have worked extensively on getting the API to connect to the SimEngine. We can both confidently say now that the engine will not only get game data to sim games -- it will now send the results back to the API, and store it within our DB. This will be used in a new update where users will be able to view player and team statistics for their team during the season. The ETA on this update will be in about a month's time. I want to give a huge shoutout to @PoopyRhinoPickle and @Piercewise1 for helping with getting together the game information for the 2022 season. I could not have done this without them, and I am happy that we were able to get results out in a swift manner. If you encounter any issues with the new update, please post them here in the Interface Feedback Thread. ~Toucan
13. Hey everyone, TuscanSota here with a new interface update. For today's dev diary, I would like to go over the new Recruiting Features that we will have for the 2022 SimFBA College Football Season. Here is a shortlist of all the changes made: - Implemented new CFB Recruiting Dashboard Page - Implemented new CFB Team Recruiting Board Page - Activated recruiting buttons on both the landing page and the team page. - Additional functionality for Admin team on managing recruiting during the season. NOTE: I highly recommend using the new pages in a Desktop browser. Mobile is not ready at this time, and the pages will appear very differently than as they are shown below. Now, let's go over these changes in detail. Navigating to the new Pages There are two new options available for navigation known as the 'Recruiting Overview' and the '{Team} Recruiting Board'. The Recruiting Overview page is where you will go to view ALL recruits, and add them to your individual board. The Team Recruiting Board, is your personal recruiting board. You can also navigate to the Recruiting Overview Page from the 'Recruiting Button', here: And you can navigate to your team's recruiting board also from your team page, as shown below: Recruiting Overview Page The Recruiting Overview is page which will show you all the recruits across the country that are available for recruiting in the current season. You may view a recruit's information all the way from rank; to position & archetype; their overall and potential; and their affinities. You may also filter using five different keys: Position, States, Affinities, Potential Grade, and Overall Grade. To use any of the filters, click on any of the select dropdowns and select an option. Each of these select dropdowns are multi-select, so you can choose to filter by more than one position, and even more than one state. To clear a filter, simply click the X button on the filter you want to clear. At this time, a Clear Filters which will auto-clear all five is not available. To help you with recruiting for the season, there is a sidebar on the left side of the page which will give you detailed information about your team's recruiting profile. Displayed on this page will be your active affinities (outside of Close to Home), the number of points remaining to be spent, along with the amount of scholarships available, and available to offer. Details about your team's needs are listed below, based on how many seniors and graduate seniors will be leaving your program, by position. You can also quickly navigate to your team's recruiting board from here. For each recruit, there is an information button that you can click which will show you more details in a neat format. As you may notice, there is a Recruiting Preferences section and Personality section. These two fields are only for flair and to show some character for a recruit. The two fields, unlike the affinities, have no effect on point allocation and the recruiting sync. To add a recruit to your board, simply click the Plus(+) button for the player you want to recruit. When the Plus(+) button changes to a check, then that recruit has successfully been added to your board. Team Recruiting Page Next up we have the Team Recruiting Page. This is the page where you will be able to offer scholarships and add points to the recruits you've selected onto your board. You can allocate as many points here onto your recruits as you want; however, if you go above your team's weekly points threshold, you will not be able to save. Please notice the change in the color of the button. When your team has an affinity match with a player on your board, the text of the matching affinity will be green. To add a scholarship onto a recruit, simply click on the plus button next to the player's name. The icon will then change into a graduation cap to signify that you have offered a scholarship to this player. To revoke a scholarship from a player, click on the graduation cap. A prompt will appear asking if you want to revoke the scholarship from the player. The decision made here will be final -- If you revoke a scholarship from a recruit, you cannot offer a scholarship to that recruit ever again. So please, be careful. I will not undo this change for you should you chose to revoke a scholarship, that's why the prompt is there. You can also choose to remove a recruit from your recruiting board. You can always re-add them back to your board at any time should you choose to. On the sidebar, you will find details from your team's active affinities, along with your Team's current rank in recruiting and score. A count on signed players by position will be added in the near future. What's Next? With these pages now implemented, we are incredibly close to having recruiting ready for the upcoming season. All that's left is the following items: - Recruiting Class Algorithm - Recruiting Sync - Team Class Rankings section - Recruiting Test season A few algorithms need to be worked on which will detail how we will rank recruits using the ESPN method, Rivals 247 method, and the Top25 method. These are the scores that were used last year in recruiting, and we plan on keeping it that way. Because of the nature of translating the algorithms from Excel to actual code, this may take some time. I'm hoping to get this done by the end of this week; and if not, next week. Once that's done, I will need your help. These pages are ready, and I'm confident with how recruiting will work through the application, but we will need a test season to confirm that everything is working 100% as intended. You can access all recruiting pages now, there's no one stopping you. Unfortunately, Amazon Smith, Bread Boi, and Clarence Beeftank aren't going to be actual recruits for the upcoming season, but they will be available for the testing cycle. So by all means, play around with the pages; and once my job's done with the algorithms and when I get @Rocketcan to send me a test crooting class specifically for this. For those that will be participating, I will grant the top three teams the option of creating their own recruit, similar to last year's reward. The only condition on this specific reward will be should you place in the top three, but had a recruit created last season, then the reward will go the next user with a top team, who didn't have a custom recruit last season. I will also grant another user the option to create their own recruit for the best piece of media content revolving around their collegiate team this off-season, before the season starts. The criteria on creating a recruit will be provided once the test-season is over. Thank you for reading. Hope you all enjoyed this Dev Diary and look forward to the start of the season. ~TuscanSota
14. @Kremit done. Check the interface now.
15. Hey everyone, TuscanSota here. I would like to announce that the Interface has been updated with more features to prepare for the 2022 SimFBA College Football Season. Here is a shortlist of all the changes made: - Revamped the User Profile page to be more viewable and user-friendly - Added coloring schemes based on the user's college football team for all CFB pages - Added a Gameplan page where users can manage their teams' offensive, defensive, and special teams gameplan - Revamped the depth chart page to allow the user to modify and view their depth chart by page. Migrations I want to thank everyone who helped with the migration process for the depth chart pages. Your help in contributing accelerated the development process for the depth chart page, and allowed a safe migration of all data involved the depth chart process. This will allow the administrative teams to run games more efficiently, and give users a more user-friendly experience with managing their depth chart. Gameplan Page The gameplan page is sorted by offensive options, defensive options, and special teams options. The user is able to reset their gameplan to its initial state, along with saving their gameplan for obvious reasons. All user options which were available for the 2021 season are available for the gameplan page. When the user switches schemes, the formations related to the scheme will render as needed onto the page. The user is able to select the distributions for ratio, formations, running, and plays as they previously could with all previous checks in place. To modify any of the distribution options, please input the number into the space or use the arrow options that appear within the input. When switching offensive schemes, please keep in mind you will need to modify certain ratios immediately, or else the gameplan won't be able to save There are a couple new options that the user has control over such as the Primary HB percentage ratio and special teams options. Primary HB is responsible for how much your 1st string back will get the ball, as opposed to the 2nd or third back. For special teams, the user can now set limits for the maximum range of which to make a 3pt field goal, and how often they want the user to go for it on 4th & Short, and 4th & Long. Depth Chart The user is now able to view their depth chart from the depth chart page. The default options at this time for position are set to QB, but the user is able to select any position they wish to view from the positions dropdown. When viewing a position, attributes related to the position will appear on the table, and the player ratings will be attributed to the position of which they're playing for. When a player is playing out of position, their original position will be displayed in parentheses as shown above. To swap the order of players for a position, select the dropdown for the respective position level and a player already existing in the depth chart. The two players within the depth chart will swap their respective places. To swap in a player from your roster, but not yet on your depth chart, select the dropdown and select that player. The previous player at that position will not be in the depth chart, but can be selected again for any other position. The user is also able to view the depth chart of other teams. This will activate read-only mode. In this mode, the user will not be able to save the depth chart or swap players for the viewed team. That would be cheating. Additional changes To make the interface more personal for the user, we've added styling options related to the user's team color on the following pages: Home page, team page, gameplan, and depth chart page. This is the first effort in styling and revamping the interface to be more stylish in the future. Expect more with further updates. The previous user page was also broken, and was not previously fixed or accounted for in prior updates. The alignments and order of items on the user page has been fixed, and will have more changes in the following updates. What's Next? - I will be working on making the above pages mobile friendly so that users can utilize the gameplan and depth chart pages from their mobile devices. At this time, please use a desktop browser to make your changes. - Any bugs or fixes needed for the gameplan and depth chart pages which appear will be resolved. - I will be working with @alexfall682 on bringing recruiting to the interface. I do not expect the server work needed for recruiting to take as much time as it did the gameplan and depth chart pages, but there will be a beta phase for recruiting to test the recruiting features on the interface before the next cfb season. I cannot give a timeframe on which recruiting will be implemented, as it will be dependent on Alex's and my own schedule. There shouldn't be any migration work involved, since a lot of the work for recruiting on the server is already done. The pages and any new features are the only things needed to be implemented. - I will work with @Rocketcan on potentially opening a pipeline for viewing stats and the user's season schedule from the interface. I cannot give a timeframe for this feature quite yet. Thank you for your patience with the off-season. I promise you that the work done here will make the work needed for running seasons of SimFBA seamless and less intensive. ~Tuscan
16. Hey Curby, Welcome back! It looks like you still have ownership of BYU. It's great to have you here again Please check out the interface when you have the chance. Apply for your BYU if you want.
17. @Kirby will give you your avatar for Vanderbilt here on the site. As for me, I'll be approving your application for application on the interface. Could you send it again, @Sportskk11?
18. If anyone here is a legitimate Seahawks fan and wants the Seahawks, please reach out to me and I will give you them.
19. Join Be A Bison: https://www.simfba.com/index.php?threads/be-a-bison-live-session.2906/#post-10259
20. @Wyo_Born try again now. The Wyoming job should be open on the interface.
21. I'll look into it. Most likely the previous user is no longer here.
22. Those are doable. You can also go into detail on recruits from certain regions; recruiting battles happening by the week; signings, anything
23. Hey everyone, With the season just around the corner, I thought it would be important to provide an update on development for the SimFBA Interface. At the moment, the following functionality is available for users: Login/Logout/Registering Team signups for both CFB and CBB Viewing rosters for CFB and CBB Setting gameplans for CBB Recruiting interface for CBB To officially state, the first season of SimFBA will not take advantage of the full interface. Pages such as the team page and roster page are set up so that users can have another perspective for their roster; allowing focus on each player and the attributes related to their position. While the current state of the interface is not 100%, development is progressing at a faster pace than before so by the next season, the interface will be a formidable option for allowing users to scout, gameplan, and recruit during season play. What to expect soon: Sorting on the roster page. It's one of the biggest requests right now, and it is something to expect by next weekend. For the past few months work has been made to integrate College Basketball and to an extent the NBA into the simulation. While neither league is 100% ready for integration with the interface, development for basketball will take a small hiatus, as most of the features needed to be tested later will require work elsewhere down the line. With that said, I am also going to look into adding more functionality for football-related features now. This includes integrating the recruiting logic from College Basketball and adapting it into college football and the recruiting ruleset in mind. Gameplan and depth chart setting will be re-examined and will be developed over the next two months. I am also looking into solutions for making the interface more mobile-friendly. This will involve research on my end but will include either styling the web version of the interface, or creating a native application from scratch. Development on either solution will only be done once the Interface is in a state that's ready for competitive use. What can I do to help? If you want to help me with interface development and have either technical/coding experience or have a genuine interest in learning, please reach out to me via Discord. I am adept with the languages being used and have plenty of tutorials saved that cover the technologies being used for the application. The application's tech stack is fairly straightforward and is open-sourced. I will make sure that I show you the ropes properly, and that the working environment is both comfortable and user-friendly. Even if you don't know the languages, the learning curve is not as daunting as one would expect. Frontend: Javascript, React, Firebase, CSS Backend: Node.js, Golang, MUX framework, MySQL Mobile: Looking into either React Native or Flutter I appreciate the feedback being provided so far, all I'm asking is that y'all please keep being patient as development progresses. ~Tuscan
