1. @Dunepit you're approved for South Alabama! Welcome to SimFBA! You will need to do the following things: 1. Sign up for the interface and request for South Alabama from the interface. 2. If you do not have a discord, I highly recommend making one and joining the site discord server here. Of course if you do already, please join it as well. 3. I recommend you read this google doc for more information on the game and also how to use the interface. This will cover topics such as depth chart management, gameplan management, recruiting, and game days.
2. Please do not request any teams at this point. Working through some bugs that unfortunately are way too deep right now.
3. Hey everyone, Some small updates. Here is a short list of the new features: - Fixed the Arizona State logo to use their football logo instead of their baseball logo - A notice is now displayed on the Available Teams page to notify users to make sure they've applied on the SimFBA forums before requesting a team. - Enabled requests for college basketball teams again - Fixed the Roster and Gameplan pages to use the new format. Accessing College Basketball on the Interface Under the request team tab, you will find two buttons on the side: one for CFB, the other for CBB (college basketball). Clicking on the CBB Team button will show you all of the available teams for College Basketball. Once you've requested a team, an admin will work towards approving your request. Once that's done, refresh the interface and you should see a new button on the landing page. Click on the CBB team button and you will be able to view the new College Basketball Landing Page A lot of it is bare bones at the moment, but gradually before the start of the season the Landing Page and other pages will be filled out. To access the Team Roster Page, click on the dropdown for you CBB team (to the right of your CFB team) Roster Page You will be able to view your roster, along with other teams' rosters on this page. Gameplan Page You will be able to update your minutes and your gameplan from this page and save. What about the other buttons on the Landing Page: Attempting to navigate to any other page will likely cause crashes. RECRUITING IS NOT READY AND IF YOU ATTEMPT TO NAVIGATE TO THOSE PAGES IT MAY CAUSE ERRORS ON YOUR BROWSER. IF SO, PLEASE REFRESH THE PAGE. What's next? - Figuring out how to do recruiting for this season - Schedule Page & Landing Page - Fixing any bugs that appear. When can we expect this? Late October / Early November. ~Tuscan

If you do not have a discord, I highly recommend making one and joining the site discord server here. Of course if you do already, please join it as well. 3. I recommend you read this google doc for more information on the game and also how to use the interface. This will cover topics such as depth chart management, gameplan management, recruiting, and game days.
5. Welcome @Darcher4! Unfortunately, the Cincinnati job was just taken. However, the other three backup teams you mentioned are all available. Let us know which one you want and we will approve you for it.
6. Hey everyone, We recognize that there have been a lot of new users joining the site. For those that have been part of the community for some time we would like to open up a new role on Discord: The @Mentor role! As a Mentor, you will be recognized as an individual that new members can go to for questions and assist them with anything on related to making a gameplan, setting a depth chart, planning games, recruiting, planning media content, using the interface, and being a friend. If you are interested in this role, please post below with your Discord username and I will assign it to you. -Tuscan
7. Hey guys, Some of y’all may have noticed last week but we’ve opened up an interest-thread for the next season of SimBBA. We have a pipeline we are working on for running games and we’re opening up a lot of teams: over 150 teams in this league. With that said there’s a couple of things which still need to be completed, so I want to set a roadmap on what these tasks look like and when we can get to tip-off with the next season: Scheduling Huge props to @Ezaco and @MasonAsher for collaborating together on getting the schedules completed. This is one of the big challenges that we need to tackle every off-season. The regular season schedules and important matchups are set and coaches are now able to schedule out-of-conference games at the start of the season. Once OOC games are set, we will need to compile and migrate every scheduled match to the interface – this won’t take too much time, but it will be crucial for getting games to be run. Migrating the old data So, good news: last year I was working on putting SimBBA on the interface. There are even some pages, while no longer accessible now, allow users to manage their roster, set the minutes for each player in matches during the week, and even recruit. The bad news: the data is out of date. I will be putting together some time to migrate the old data from the first SimBBA season – rosters mostly – and move them over to new, more robust data tables. Along with that, the data I have on hand is not up to date from when we ran SimNBA. Because I don’t have any SimNBA data in the interface, that will need to be migrated, and I will need to parse the old college rosters to remove the players that have graduated, and the recruits that teams signed last season. Generating new teams Once I’ve migrated the old data over, I will then generate the new teams and start to open things up on the interface. Players will be able to sign up for their college basketball teams and will be able to see at least their new roster on the interface. Recruiting The previous recruiting structure that was setup on the basketball API will need to be rewritten. I don’t know what the plan will be for recruiting; whether it will follow a similar structure to how we do things in SimFBA, or if we’re going to follow the rules that @Wahoo had written previously. Once the above steps are completed, I will be working intensively on the recruiting portion and will try to get both recruits and AI recruiting setup as soon as I can. When will all this be ready? I’m asking everyone this, but please understand that interface development will take some time. Along with getting the basketball API up and running again, I am also working on off-season development for SimFBA and potential SimNFL. Do not expect SimBBA to be ready within the next month. If you would like to help with the effort to have the season ready for tipoff, please help @Ezaco with OOC Scheduling and preparing the matches for migration to the database. If you want to help collaborate on the recruiting system for SimBBA, please reach out myself, @Ezaco, and @Migi. I am excited for the next season of SimBBA, and look forward to having this season on the interface so that off-season involvement is minimal, and we can move from off-season to season in quicker time. ~Toucan
8. @Parks&Rek, I'm approving your app for Arizona. Welcome to SimFBA and congratulations on becoming the next head coach for Arizona! You will need to do the following things: 1. Sign up for the interface and request for Arizona from the interface. 2. I will be adding you to the Pac 12 discord, so you will need to introduce yourself to your fellow Pac 12 brethren. 3. I recommend you read this google doc and this dev diary (Dev Diary - #51 Interface Updates: Depth Charts and Gameplans ) for more information on the game and also on how to use the interface. This will cover topics such as depth chart management, gameplan management, recruiting, and game days. Welcome to the Pac 12!
9. Hey everyone, I'm pushing out one final update to the interface for this week. Here's a short list of changes: - Added a new schedule button to the landing page - Added the schedule page for view - Users can now view schedules by team and by week. Initial values for team is the user's team; followed by the current week. This request has been in here for awhile but now users are able to view their schedule along with current games of the week. Results for current week match ups will only appear after the end of the current week, once the week-sync has been ran. With the schedule page now added, focus on interface development will be the following: - Adding conference championship games, bowl games, and playoff games. - Post Season functions (progression, walk-ons, NFL graduates) - Fixing data structures where needed. - Doing prep for season 3 including the next croot class. Hope y'all enjoy this update. ~Tuscan
10. Hey everyone, Another quick dev diary: I ended up replacing the news modal with a new SimFBA News Page. To access, simply click on the News Button found on the landing page: There, you will be taken to a new page with this current layout: New Features: - Users are now able to view all news logs from the current season. - Users are able to filter by news type to look for specific types of news - Users are able to select the week and filter the news I will work on adding mobile compatibility soon once I have time. Along with that, expect the data structure for the news log to change during the off-season. This will be so that we can provide more information to news including the following: - The actual week the news took place - The team's logo, if the news is related to a team. Cheers, ~Tuscan
11. Hey @rajmurti, I just saw your request for UCF in the interface but I didn't see a username registered with the request. Can you please make sure you've signed up on the interface? There should be a button for sign up in the top-right hand corner of the page.
12. Hey @everyone, TuscanSota here with a quick dev diary. With the end of the regular season in sight, we wanted to take some time to address the Coaching Carousel. While it’s a formality for some coaches to switch teams after the season, we want to have this written down to address some questions that some of the admin team has been receiving over the season. Can I switch teams during the middle of the season? If you wish to apply to be the coach for a different team, you will only be able to once the regular season for the current given season finishes. Once the next season afterward, you will not be able participate in the coaching carousel until the regular season finishes. Can I bring in my current recruiting class to my new school? The recruiting class is signing with the team you were previously coaching. While there are real-world examples of recruits flipping schools to follow a certain coach, this isn’t implemented in the sim at the moment. Why can new users join a school during the mid-season? We want to encourage everyone to participate in the sim. While new users are at a disadvantage in recruiting by joining mid-season, they aren’t able to switch their school either once they’ve chosen. When does a school open up if a user is inactive? A school will open if a user hasn’t been active for about four weeks, either on the site or on the interface. Both sites are used interchangeably with one another in which a user needs to use the interface to update their game plan strategy and recruit; and the user also needs to view the main SimFBA site to view the weekly discussions on games and results. If a user hasn’t recruited or saved their recruiting board for over four weeks, the interface team reaches out to check in. If there’s no activity, the coach is considered inactive and loses their job. A personal matter is happening in my life, and I will not be as active for a while. I don’t want to lose my team in the sim though. What should I do? Please let the admin team know. If for any reason you need to take a step away from the sim for any reason, whether it be mental health, family, education, work, moving, etc, we understand. Life should always come first. You will keep your team and we will make sure you aren’t removed due to inactivity. A well-renowned school becomes open for application at the end of the season. What if more than one person applies during the coaching carousel? In regard to applications for a popular or very talented team, please reach out to the team’s conference commissioner. Depending on the open team and the conference commissioner, they may handle the application process differently through a set of questions or interviews. Below are the commissioners and their respective conferences: ACC: @Kirby Big 12: @Vivid Big 10: @subsequent Pac 12: @TuscanSota SEC: @tsweezy American: @SyndaKyt Conference-USA: None at the moment. Please reach out to either @Rocketcan or @subsequent Mountain West: @DarthJarJar Sun Belt: See Conference-USA MAC: @PoopyRhinoPickle Independents: See Conference-USA What happens when I switch schools? Once you’ve applied for your new school and are accepted, you will be removed from your current team on the interface. You will need to re-apply for your new team on the interface once you’ve been removed. Your forum avatar will also change to your new school once @Kirby sees your approval and is able to make the switch. Can a user be fired from their position due to on-the-field performance? No. The only instance where a user can be removed from their school is if they personally resign from their school or they become a hazard to the online SimFBA community. By hazard, this includes harassing and threatening members, spamming the SimFBA site, and not respecting the rules of the community. Someone is pressuring me to resign from my school because my team is performing badly. Should I? No one should be pressuring anyone to resign or play the game a certain way. If you’ve been berated by someone to quit your team, please reach out to the admins and we will resolve the matter. Thank you for taking the time to read the above information. We’re looking forward to the end of the regular season - and for those who are making the switch, we are excited to see where you apply and where you coach for next season. ~TuscanSota
13. He means request for Georgia Southern, not Oregon State
14. @SKLL, I'm approving your app for Oregon State. Welcome to SimFBA and congratulations on becoming the first head coach for Oregon State! You will need to do the following things: 1. Sign up for the interface and request for Oregon State from the interface. 2. I will be adding you to the Pac 12 discord, so you will need to introduce yourself to your fellow Pac 12 brethren. 3. I recommend you read this google doc for more information on the game and also how to use the interface. This will cover topics such as depth chart management, gameplan management, recruiting, and game days. Welcome to the Pac 12!
15. Hi @Dakotagreer, I'm going to approve your app for UTSA. Welcome to the SimFBA Community! Please go ahead and create an account on the interface and request UTSA. There you will be able to set your depth chart, gameplanning, and complete your recruiting! Once @Kirby is back from vacation, he will assign the proper avatar to your account to signify that you are the Roadrunners head coach. Please reach out if you have any questions on gameplanning, using the interface, and on the weekly schedule of games.
16. Hey everyone, Here is the list of all changes with today's update: - Link to the SimFBA site can be found in the right-hand side of the navigation bar - Statistics link is fixed in the team dropdown on the nav bar - News log now appropriately logs when a user makes a scheme change for their offense. - Info button in place next to offensive scheme button - Backend changes to keep track of a team's recruiting class size limit. - Removed receiving yards and receiving TDs headers from the Team Stats (Offense) view Landing Page Below are screenshots showing the new options for users to navigate to the SimFBA site and the statistics page from the dropdown. Regarding Scheme Changes If the user changes their offensive scheme and saves, it will now be logged in the news log. It's not a fool-proof solution but it will give users more awareness in case a team changes their scheme but does not properly notify their opponent in the appropriate channels. There is now an information button next to the offensive scheme label. Clicking the label provides the user with information regarding the schemes available, and the protocol required for changing their scheme. In regard to these features now being provided, I will be advocating a harsher punishment the next time a team is not notified of a scheme change. Moving forward This is officially my last update for the regular season. I'm already taking note of changes that I want to make for the CFB portion of the interface to make things more user-friendly and seamless for the user. Here is what I have in mind: - Changing the news log to its own page where the user will be able to search and filter logs by week and by news type within a season. - More information pointers on both the gameplan page and the recruiting pages - A help section to document all gameplay features. - An attempt to find the collusion button in the code and remove it in order to prevent users from improperly colluding with each other. - Individual game views for player stats and team stats on the stats page. Thanks, TuscanSota
17. Technically I think you’re still CSU’s coach on the interface. But if someone doesn’t approve this app, I will
18. Hey everyone, Here is the log for today's update: - Fixed the UI for the landing page to have navigation buttons accessible - Changed sorting for standings on landing page - Added statistics navigation to navbar dropdown for CFB - Fixed numerous bugs in the Recruit Sync and RES sync - Added Statistics page to the interface Landing Page The landing page now has navigation capability to the statistics and page and has moved the buttons to the top of the page. The sorting for the standings now goes by conference wins, and then total wins. Statistics Page Stats are now viewable on the interface. Views available include player stats and team stats. At the moment, only seasonal stats are available. If you want game-specific stats, I suggest going through the game results to see how certain players perform. Most headers are sortable and the filters allow the user to group teams together and compare which teams are best in which category. There is also a heisman watch list that the user can view. This is not the de-facto algorithm for determining the Heisman winner of the season, rather it is only a list that allows everyone to open the discussion on which players are in contention for this competitive award. Future of the Interface I am going to take a break from building new features for the interface for the time being. We have reached the point where I have promised to deliver everything as needed for the interface this season. I will be working on small support tickets every now and then if it is considered to be severe or needed. If you have feedback on the interface and its usability, I suggest using the feedback thread to post your thoughts. From this point, just please post there instead of DMing me so that I can have all of the feedback collectively in one place. For those who have helped with the beta testing and support for the interface, I really appreciate the help that you've provided with the development of this application. We're in a very good state, and should be good to go for the rest of the 15-16 weeks of the season. ~Tuscan
19. I really hate accounting so if you want to be either a GM or Head Coach, come join the Seahawks.
20. Bellwood had to step down due to a few things, so I think JarJar volunteered to replace him
