  1. Shoutout to @Piercewise1 for such amazing work on both the front and backends of this!
  2. Huge. HUGE shoutout to @Piercewise1 for putting this together in very short time! Thank you to the rest of the team who helped put together the framework and background to get it to this state as well!
  3. Hi @SandyToez, welcome to SFA! Glad you are here. @SyndaKyt who is the AAC commissioner should be around shortly to take a look at your application!
  4. HFA is going to be a game changer for sure! So will the new stamina system!
  5. Hi everyone! We hope everybody is having a great start to 2022 so far! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ First, we have a few updates on the simulation's continuous evolution. @Rocketcan has been hard at work squashing bugs, deploying new features, and adding metrics. Bug fixes Ton of bugs have been vanquished to make the simulation run smoother. Penalties Penalties no longer reset everything to 1st and 10 Penalty yardage now applying correctly Line of scrimmage is set properly after penalties during punts [*]Turnover TDs Now working properly! [*]INT yardage Now properly displaying! [*]QB scrambles Play-by-play should now accurately report QB scrambles [*]"xx:00" on the clock The play-by-play now properly shows two digits for the seconds (e.g. 10:00 instead of 10:0) [*]Field Goal blocks The system now understands how to output this [*]Stamina We have a new system in place for stamina (which I'm sure @Rocketcan will deep dive later on!) The long story short is that you should no longer have low stamina guys gassed after just a handful of plays and players should more easily last most of the game New features Box scores now show the coach's name Play-by-play now shows the running score New stats Pancakes Individual sacks allowed D/ST TDs Safeties Passes Defended Drive data How did the drive end? (i.e. turnover, turnover on downs, punt, TD, FG made, FG missed, safety) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Next, here is our current to-do list for the simulation. CFB Simulation buffs/nerfs/tweaks If you want to better understand some of these buffs/nerfs/tweaks, please refer to numbers crunched here. The tl;dr for this is that I went through and compared our regular season stats and averages to 2017, 2018, and 2019 FBS stats. Buff LB tackling LBs now do a better job tackling in the box [*]Nerf DT/DE/OLB (3-4) tackling [*]Buff FG kicking by around 10% [*]Buff XP kicking by around 4% [*]Buff sacks by about 100% We saw roughly half as many sacks as we should have [*]Nerf passing Yards We need to decrease this by roughly 500 yards/yr [*]Completions We need to decrease this by roughly 20-25 completions/yr We need to decrease completion percentage by roughly 1.5 percentage points [*]Yards per completion We need to decrease this by roughly 0.5 yards/completion [*]Buff passing INTs thrown We need to decrease the number of INTs thrown by roughly 4-5/yr Planned new features Overtime Improved play selection logic based on down and distance to go Improved hurry-up offenses (two minute drill) Gameplan updates HB substitutions Selection to determine when you punt, kick a FG, or go for it on 4th down Pre-fab gameplans for situational football based on scheme ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hopefully this list of changes and planned changes helps you guys understand why we there is a larger gap between our first and our second seasons. Rocketcan will need to simulate full seasons after making tweaks to check to see if his changes are having the desired impact to the simulation, so we really thank you for your patience and willingness to volunteer and help us with things... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let's switch gears to @SimNFL... So we've had a bit of discussion on how best to order teams for our inaugural draft. While we would love to run a round robin tournament to do an initial seeding of teams for the draft, we just don't have the sim in a state to properly run NFL games yet. So we will be randomly generating an order and then doing a snake draft. This seems to be the most fair way to do the draft right now. For full transparency, I will do a quick stream on the SimFBA Twitch Channel at 12pm ET THIS Saturday January 22nd using https://100yardrush.com/ to run the randomization. I will do everything completely from scratch so everybody can see that no funny business is to be had. A VOD and link to the 100yardrush replay will be available afterwards. Next weekend/week, I will also post a list of all players eligible for the draft so everybody can get excited for that! Before the draft occurs, we will also need to do pro-days and the NFL combine, so please stay tuned for more details on those events as well as the draft itself. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Okay, that's it for today's dev diary. A lot of information in this one, so please take a look, ask questions, and discuss below and in Discord! Talk soon.
  6. Welcome to SimFBA! You have been approved for Vanderbilt! Our inaugural season just wrapped up, so we are in a bit of a transitory phase. We have NFL starting up very soon after we make some tweaks and fixes to the game engine. 7. Weeze, you're approved for Florida and are officially our first coach to move teams! Please request Florida on the interface and @Kirby, could you set him up with Florida profile pic?

  12. CHANGING YOUR SCHEME (2021 SEASON) We know that since this is the first season of a completely new sim, people want to try new things out and see what works. I highly encourage that. As this is our first season, we don't have a proper way to adjust performance based on constant scheme changes (if a team went through four different schemes in four different weeks, you would expect that team to have some growing pains). To that end, we still want to facilitate experimentation, so we are allowing scheme changes as long as you let your opponent know by Monday 11:59PM ET. Please utilize the following thread: https://www.simfba.com/index.php?threads/2021-scheme-changes-thread.2703/ Failure to properly notify your opponent will result in your next week's recruiting points being cut from 50 to 25. If you suspect another user has changed schemes without notifying you, please let us know and we will investigate. Additionally, I would like to apologize for any failures in communicating small rule changes and announcements. We will continue to make sure everything is properly documented in one easy-to-find place.
  13. Hi all, I know there have been some murmurings about scheme changes and things like that. 14. Hi everyone, It's become apparent to everyone that there have been issues with unnecessary and completely irresponsible behavior regarding this site and using this site's name. I want to be absolutely clear to everyone that this sort of behavior is neither encouraged nor welcome on SimFBA. We are here to create a fun and engaging community, not one that is at odds with other communities. Never have we claimed to be a replacement for any other website or game. Simply put, this site is here because we want to offer another option in a fantastic world of sports simulation games. I've been a part of many different communities, and I hope that everyone here has the opportunities to do the same as well. I would like to once again point out our "Mission Statement" and our "About Us" as I think some of us need a refresher on this. You can find the full text here. In closing, I'm very disappointed. Not just in whichever users have been utilizing the SimFBA name as a means for nefarious reasons or in any toxic discussions or environments that have been created as a result, but in my failure to ensure that this sort of situation would not occur. For that, I will take full responsibility and you can rest assured knowing that I will now allow this to happen again. I'm not asking anyone to come forward. I'm not asking for anyone to apologize for their behaviors. I'm not going to rehash what has transpired. All I'm going to implore is for everyone to do better.
  15. Wow. This is an amazing idea! We can definitely think about this concept.
  16. Hi everyone, I want to work with the group to inquire how you guys would feel about incentives for creating and maintaining team Wiki pages. We have a wiki (found here, or via link on the top navigation bar), but right now it is pretty bare. I know a lot of you guys are busy people, and I don't want to create inherent disadvantages because you don't have as much time to spend on the site. You all have lives and I 100% respect that. In light of that, the wiki pages still need to be created, so I want to ask you guys what you think what would be the best way to get those pages done. Should there be an incentive to create them? If so, would those be in the form of recruiting points? How many? Should you get more if you work on other teams' pages? Should the incentive be just a forum trophy? Or should everyone just be required to work on their own? Additionally, we would need to create a standard template/format. Should there be an incentive for someone creating that? Please discuss your thoughts here. EDIT: There's already a template. See here. Thanks @PoopyRhinoPickle!
  17. Hi everyone, Happy to announce that anyone who creates media regularly for the site will be rewarded with 5 extra points to spend on recruiting per week! As a baseline, we require you to post for at least 12 weeks throughout the season and the media should be something more than just a simple list of teams or players. Be creative, create narratives, interview people! Use your imagination! Note that these rules are subject to change and are at the admins' discretion. Edit: To clarify - This is making weekly posts THIS season will reward you with 5 extra points NEXT season.
  18. Hi @rvjruk and welcome to the site! We're glad to have you here. You just (barely) missed the cut off for week 1 games, but you can take over the team starting in week 2. A couple of things that we'll need from you: Please read this to get familiar with how to set up depth charts and gameplans: https://www.simfba.com/index.php?threads/college-football-rules-megathread.2164/ And then check this out for how to get started with recruiting: https://www.simfba.com/index.php?threads/recruiting-tutorial.2353/ Once you have read these, let me know and we will get you all set up. This round of recruiting ends next Wednesday, so the sooner you read the above, the sooner you can start recruiting for this week and gameplanning/creating your depth chart for week 2 games!
  19. Make sure to post a OOC schedule post here: https://www.simfba.com/index.php?threads/2021-out-of-conference-scheduling.2106/
  20. A P P R O V E D WELCOME TO THE P5 AND NC STATE
  21. I do recommend if you can. Just easier to ping all when a new major update is posted, but no pressure. If you check the site often, then you'll get all of the updates one way or another.
  22. Subsequent's Michigan will attempt to not be the worst team in Michigan. Discord username is Subsequent.
