Hey everyone! I hope y'all are doing well during the end times!

The 2021 season has come to an end, with Dallas (@Vivid) defeating Cleveland (@Rocketcan :AngryParty:) in Dicebowl III! Congratulations to Vivid and the Dallas Dingoes! It was a great season with some really interesting storylines and media posts. I am really happy with how it all turned out, and I hope you guys had fun.

With all that out of the way, we now need to move on to some housekeeping stuff. First, I am sad to report that @stinsy will no longer be the owner of the Philadelphia Phatties. While I wish he could stay, I understand why he has decided to move on. Thus, until a replacement owner can be found, the Philadelphia Phatties will be controlled by an AI that Tuscan and I will write. It won't be anything crazy, but it will hopefully get the job done.

That allows me to move to the next topic: Gameplay Updates. There are a few things we are hoping to do this offseason to make the game a bit better. The list of things we are looking to accomplish is roughly as follows.
  • Create an AI to run teams without human owners.
  • Implement Schemes
  • Update some stuff under the hood.
  • Update our software to track seasonal stats
We have already touched on the first part, but the second part also ties into the AI. I will soon be posting rules for schemes. Each team will have to choose a scheme that will impose gameplanning restrictions (must be within a certain range for some plays, etc) while also providing bonuses and penalties to certain position groups. This is intended to do two things: 1) create a way for users to customize their teams and build them the way they want, and 2) have a way for users to understand what type of team AI teams are as well as letting us develop logic for how they should gameplan and approach the offseason. Like I said earlier, I will make a post that goes into detail and has all the rules.

I won't bore you with the under the hood stuff, and the final point is sort of a "stretch goal" in that we might not be able to implement it before this next season. Either way, there are a few other things we have to go over. First, the league will also be realigned. We are up to 23 user teams and 1 AI team. Given this, I am going to break the league into conferences. Thus, teams will mostly play teams within their own conference and rarely play interconference games. Because of this, I want to try to retain any rivalries that have built up over the few seasons we have played. To that end, I will make a post for people to list any rivals they have in order of importance. I will use this information to attempt to build the conferences and divisions properly.

Lastly, once all of this stuff is out of the way, I can begin the offseason process and publish the 2022 schedule. Stay safe, everyone! If you have any questions, please post them here or ping me in the discord.
