Hi everyone,

Cat's finally out of the bag. For those who were keeping up with the mysterious ??? channels on our discord, the puzzles are finally over.

SimHockey is a passion project that I've been working on since last September.  It is a love letter to a game that I became familiar with growing up both outside of NYC and in Minnesota. This hockey sim was built from the ground up and is designed to be more experimental than the other leagues of which we currently support.

For starters, the engine is already built and is part of the game's server. The game which was streamed last night outputs the full play-by-play generated from a game simulated from the engine.

Secondly, recruiting in college, and roster management in the pro league are designed to be more challenging than in our football and basketball leagues. The game will rely on both static information related to the teams involved in each league and on the progression and growth of said teams within the SimHockey leagues. I'm hoping to have a balance struck between both.

Thirdly, scheduling is already sorted out and will be using templates for both the collegiate league and professional league.

Fourthly, SimHockey is being built with Interface 2.0 in mind. Once interface 2.0 is complete, both the college hockey league and the professional hockey league will be active. What we saw last night was a teaser of what is to come.

For those who are interested in the college and professional leagues and would like to pick up a team, here is the google sheet listing all available teams in our college league. There are 66 teams in the college league (SimCHL) located from Arizona to Alaska to Maine, all who have a D1 Hockey program. Please look for the prospective interest thread for both SimCHL and SimNHL teams.

For those interested in the professional league (SimNHL), click on the NHL teams tab. I can't give out details on the systems yet, but I will say this: All present and past teams within the NHL are available, and there will be a max of 32 teams. The only rule on requesting a team is that a city/metropolitan area cannot house more than one NHL team. Meaning, the Minnesota North Stars and Minnesota Wild cannot exist in the same league. The only exception is the NYC and LA metropolitan areas because they currently host the NY Rangers, NY Islanders, LA Kings, and Anaheim Ducks.

With this said, if there are at least 20 people interested in SimNHL, then we will open up the professional league in the first season.

Please look forward to January 18th, 2025 for more info on SimHockey.
