Hi everyone,

Things are busy this offseason behind the scenes. Today's Dev Diary isn't covering the interface specifically but a few initiatives that we're starting this offseason. Here is what I will be covering today:

  • Forum Channels on the Discord Server
  • Documentation
  • Promoting SimFBA and incentives

Forum Channels

We recently opened two new forum channels in our discord server. The channels job-applications and documentation are present to give users easier access to information that involves applying for teams, and knowledge related to the interface and our sim leagues.

We will still have the jobs and applications subforums here on the site and will be looking there for job applications. The discord forum channels will be used to experiment and see if this helps with new users being able to apply for a team easier.

Documentation Section

The documentation subforum will be used to hold and keep-up-to-date information on changes related to the interface and to our games. SimFBA has evolved over the past five years and we've made numerous changes both to the game and to the interface. To give new and existing users easier access to specific information, we're going to try and place the info in the documentation forums channel on Discord. I will be posting more there when I have time, and encourage other users to contribute if they are able to.

Promoting SimFBA and Incentives

SimFBA has been running for over five years since before the pandemic. Our first game ever simulated happened to be between the Purdue Boilermakers vs the San Diego State Aztecs, with both coaches calling plays for their team on a twitch stream. Since that first game, we've grown from hosting only a CFB sim to hosting an NFL-based sim, to adding a college basketball and NBA league. We've also seen our community grow with over 80 active users across our SimCFB league, SimNFL league, SimCBB, and SimNBA league.

To help the community grow further and garner more interest in all four of our leagues, we would like to announce a promotional referral system for all current and new users. Here are the rules of the SimFBA Recruiting Campaign:

  • For every new member that applies and is accepted into a team within any of our four leagues, both the new user and their referral will be able to create a recruit for that league's respective college league.
  • Anyone that recruits 3 new members automatically gains a new affinity towards CFB Recruiting: The "Coaching Tree" affinity.
    • The specific rules for the "Coaching Tree" affinity are this: Any recruit with this affinity that is recruited by a team with an existing scheme match towards that player will get the same bonus towards that player as an ordinary affinity would.
  • If a user helps by adding documentation to the documentation subforum with information well explained and related to the Interface/Sim experience, they will be granted the chance to create a custom recruit for that league's respective college league.
  • Any individual user that recruits over 10 new members will win a custom YETI rambler mug with the SimFBA logo. Free shipping paid for by me.
  • Any individual user that creates 10 well-documented posts in the #Documentation section on Discord will win a custom YETI rambler mug with the SimFBA logo. Free shipping paid for by me.

  • Any individual user that recruits over 20 new members in one offseason will receive a custom David Ross Washington State jersey, signed by me. Free shipping, although it may take some time for the jersey to be made.
  • Any individual user who helps contribute at least 20 well-documented and accurate posts in the documentation section explaining either the interface or how a particular sim works will get a custom jersey of their choosing, of the player of their choosing. Signed by me is optional, and I will take care of the shipping.

Many of us here are passionate for sports. For college football, NFL, college basketball, NBA, and many more sports not yet covered in SimFBA. We want to continue to grow as a community and help new members learn how to play in our competitive leagues. The above recruiting campaign I think is a big step for us with giving users a chance to not only help SimFBA grow, but also give a chance for members both new and old the chance to leave a legacy here in our community's history.

I hope everyone here has a great day.

Will happily do some documentation on the following:

* Free Agency Contract (NFL)
* Trading Procedures (NFL - covering the mechanics of it, plus notable implications of it such as cap roll over etc.)
* Scouting (NFL - Including Tips on approaches)
* The Draft Room (NFL)
* The "Stepien Rule" (NBA)

If I think of anything else will add to it
