Reid getting warmed up at the Robert Morris Quarterback Camp

Morgantown - Dzanan Reid had an up and down freshman season, as he took the reigns of the West Virginia Mountaineer offense.  Part of a complete rebuild, it wasn't totally unexpected to see the young signal caller show signs of inconsistency as he worked to integrate himself into an offense that featured so many young players.  On the season Reid only connected on 51% of his passes and had a middling 13 TD to 13 interception ratio.  Seeing the need to improve, Reid has spent the offseason working hard with his receiving corps, and spending time at the Robert Morris passing academy.  Morris, the breakout star for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has been hosting this camp for years as a way to help QBs with pro pedigree work on their fundamental skills.

Reid utilized his time at the camp to really hone in on his fundamentals, and work on getting his footwork sound for the upcoming season.  Hayden Fox, former NFL coach, worked closely with Reid and was impressed at the growth that was shown throughout the camp.  "A quarterback's footwork is crucial to their development, especially for a pocket guy like Reid.  He focused in real well and came out of the camp with great improvement in that area.  Good footwork will help lead to faster progressions as he continues to get more field time." Outside of the camp, Reid has spent a lot of time at the facility working closely with the Mountaineers' receiving corps in order to enhance their chemistry.  RB Chad Dolis, WR Kevin Purcell, and Leo Gilbert have put in a lot of time each day just working on the new offense that WVU is looking to implement in the 2024 season.

It's been a while since WVU fans have been able to share success on the football field, but many of the preseason publications are recognizing real growth in the roster for the 2024 season.  Historically the Mountaineers have been a bottom 5 team, from a talent perspective, but going into the 2024 season many of these publications have WVU climbing into the top half of the simCFB world.  One publication has WVU all the way up to #41 in the nation, as such the expectations are starting to rise in Morgantown.  Fans around the area and saying this is the year that WVU has to make it to a bowl game.  Reid will play a big part in that, and from what we're hearing on the ground he has put in the work to make that happen.
