2022 NFL Draft Day #1 Headlines

Day #1 is in the books, lets take a quick look at the notable moments and events from the first four rounds!

Mount Elijhaa goes #1 Overall

As shouts of "Who Dey" rang around the NFL Draft Hall, with the first pick of the NFL Draft, the Bengals selected Offensive Lineman Elijhaa Rader. The massive 6-5, 295 lbs was widely considered the #1 offensive lineman in the class, and was even acclaimed as "The Eighth Wonder of the Natural World" by one of our in house analysts. A monster prospect that looks to be one of the top protectors in the league from Day 1, we can't wait to see if Mount Elijhaa can ever be summited by one of the AFCN Edge rushers.

#BrownsMissAgain

With the #8 overall pick, the Cleveland Browns selected CB Kolton Hayes out of Clemson to the surprise of many analysts. It came out from internal sources close to the Browns front office that due to an error in communications, the wrong player was actually selected! The selection was meant to be Ramon Newton, the talented corner out of Arkansas that ended up going 18th overall to the Miami. As the news broke out to the loyal fans at home, Browns Twitter was aflame. How will this impact the careers of Hayes and Newton, we can't wait to find out!

The Ultimate Raider

The Raiders organization stunned the world and our broadcast booth with their first pick as an organization, selecting troubled Oklahoma receiver Andrew Richards at 31st overall. A talented player, the 6-3 receiver only played 16 snaps last fall while dealing with various off-the-field issues. The Raiders, playing up to their standards, went for his big frame and 4.4 speed. Lets hope it pans out, but we all know Richards isn't in the league to play school.

Matt F-ing Howard

The superstar, mega hyped quarterback from Florida State saw his draft stock go from prospective #1 overall during the season to horrifically collapsing all the way to 46th overall and going to the hometown Jacksonville Jaguars with their 2nd overall pick. The 7th QB taken in the class, many attributed the fall to Howard's off the field issues and questions to his commitment to the game. The hits just kept coming as twitter got a hold of the situation by making memes of his fall, to the commentary as Howard finally got selected and may have embraced his family for a little too long, but the worst was yet to come. SageBow News reported after the selection a scathing article with sources from the Florida State program about issues with Howard's character. The nightmare fall is over, but the hits just keep coming for Matt Howard.

Defensive line? Gross

It seems NFL front offices had strong opinions about which positions were important, and defensive line was at the bottom of the list. A single defensive lineman was taken in Round 1, DE Michael Dyson all the way at 28th overall. The GM Consensus Mock Draft released had DE Tommy Marimon going #1 overall, and he fell all the way to the Titan's pick at 36th overall in a shocking fall. Its shaping up to be a quarterback's paradise as pass rushing talent was overlooked repeatedly in favor of other positions.

Synagogue Party

In one of the craziest scenes in NFL Draft Coverage history, linebacker Simeon Rea, a devout Jew, had his NFL Draft watch party at his local synagogue in Houston. With his selection with the 108th overall pick, we saw him, his extended family, and his entire community erupt into one of the wildest parties our cameras have ever picked up. Its not often we see a 230+ pounder get ragged dolled around bar mitsvah style, but we got to see it last night.

Tune in starting at 4 PM EST for Day 2 coverage!
