Week 12 Score: Kansas State 19 Texas Tech 13

POTG: KSU WR Danny Cichy - 7 catches for 221 yards, 1 TD

What happened: Texas Tech would once again let a slim second half lead slip away en route to another loss in this dismal campaign in which they remain winless on the season.

As has been the case for much of the season, the Red Raiders continue to struggle to find the endzone, and far too often have to settle for field goals. It would be their undoing again against the Wildcats. Texas Tech would enter halftime with a 10-9 lead and were out in front by a score of 13-9 at the end of three quarters. With 3:08 remaining in the games, Texas Tech would find themselves punting to Kansas State while holding a slim 13-12 lead. The Wildcats would string together a drive to get themselves into scoring position. With only seconds left on the clock, Brandon Smith would connect with Danny Cichy for a 34 yards touchdown pass to win the game 19-13. Though the Red Raiders had lost 10 other games before this one, this loss was a complete punch to the gut.

Texas Tech enjoyed some of the best offensive production as running back Fernando Gonzales finished with 124 yards on 34 carries. Quarterback Jordan Madero was back in the starting role and completed 18 of 39 passes for 254 yards and one touchdown.

Unfortunately, the Red Raider defense was no match for the Kansas State aerial attack. Quarterback Brandon Smith would complete 29 of 45 passes for 395 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Danny Cichy would have a field day against the Texas Tech secondary as he hauled in all seven of his targets for 221 yards and one touchdown.

Week 13 Preview

Match-up: Oklahoma State (4-6) at Texas Tech (0-11)

Mercilessly, the Red Raiders season will come to an end this week as Texas Tech welcomes Oklahoma State to Lubbock. At 4-6 on the season, the Cowboys will be looking to avoid a let down as their slim bowl hopes remain alive. Oklahoma State enters the game fresh off a 24-6 victory against Oklahoma in the Bedlam Series.

What to watch for (TTU): Do the Red Raiders have any pride remaining? New opponent, same question. The Red Raiders played their opponent tough last week, yet it still was not enough. This squad and it’s seniors have one more chance to avoid a winless season. Is there enough pride among the players to do everything in their power to avoid a dreaded 0-12 season?

What to watch for (OSU): What type of offense will we see? Prior to their win last week, the Cowboys had faced some struggles on offense. They presented a well balanced attack against Oklahoma to the tune of 220 yards passing and 149 yards rushing. If they can maintain that level of production they have to like their chances as Texas Tech has shown it does not have the firepower to light up the scoreboard.

What will happen: Last game of the year, can’t hold anything back. Let’s face it, there’s a very slim chance the Red Raiders can win this game, but the staff at the Daily Toreador are tired of picking against our team. For that reason alone, we’re throwing our full support behind our Red Raiders.

Prediction: Texas Tech 16 Oklahoma State 14
