Edit: The pokemon option is not a joke, I will happily steer into some pet battle sim like, let's be real, I want to do. Either way I'll give folks as much input as possible. I'm very open to collaboration and communication when it comes to this stuff.

What: A soccer, hockey, blitzball, handball simulation game.

Why: My previous project was shut down and I was getting into the concept. I like doing these as practice and experience. This will be a bit more complicated.

Who: ... me?

When: Iunno, could be a few weeks, could be months.

Where: Here

How:

Okay, so here's the skinny. I've mostly got an idea at this point, but I don't wanna get all excited about it if it's not going to go anywhere. That addressed, here's what I've got so far:

The scoring system will be goals. I don't really have an opinion yet on what it will be besides that, maybe soccer or handball in spirit, but I do know it'll be a goalkeeper and goals style game. My first engine was basketball, so I'm aiming for something different. Think something akin to xperteleven but probably somehow more and less complicated.

Number of players per side: 8-11 (GK + field)

General roles: Keeper, Defender, Midfielder, Forward

Possible Subtypes: Goalkeeper, Back, Center, Winger, Striker, seriously I'm really open to whatever here

Skills: Keeper Positioning, Reactions, Passing, Shot Power, Shot Accuracy, Strength, Speed, Vision, Defending, then possibly game-specific skills like heading
# of Teams: 8-12

Standing Style: Points like association football (3 for win, 1 tie, 0 loss)

Championship: Top of the standings

Cup: Yes

Player Development: Developmental Academies that you fund and staff

Gameplan Complexity: General depth chart (Keeper + 3 levels of field players), with tactic sliders that would be built in during development like tempo, risk tolerance, and player freedom.

Also if you have an opinion on what it should be based on, feel free to chime in. At this stage it'll like just be a weird bastard thing that'll be dope and you can just pretend is soccer or hockey or whatever.

That's the best way to put it. I'm thinking a sort of arena soccer so I can adjust the rules a bit.

I think we’d be happy to have this hosted here. Whether we’re battling with small monsters or playing calvinball

Please feel free to follow along with my documentation progress here.

Edit: Also please check out the engine flow chart so far. This is to help me figure out what attributes we need and to later help build the engine.
